NPI/GPI Launches Automated Marketing Solution for Franchise Owners

Hub LogoNational Property Inspections, Inc., parent company of National Property Inspections in the United States and Global Property Inspections in Canada, is pleased to announce the launch of an integrated, automated suite of marketing tools that will help franchise owners market their businesses more efficiently and effectively. Branded as NPI Hub and GPI Hub, the platform is offered to all franchisees at no cost.

To develop the Hub solution, National Property Inspections, Inc., partnered with RenMind, a marketing software and service company based in Omaha, Nebraska. The NPI/GPI Hub is based on the RenMind Wire solution, which is a digital marketing platform. As RenMind builds out the features of RenMind Wire, it will build new features into the Hub solutions for NPI and GPI franchisees.

“RenMind designed Wire to specifically fit the needs of franchises like NPI,” said Luke Armstrong, founder and strategic director of RenMind. “Our growing suite of Web-based marketing tools is designed to be simple to use but powerful enough to replace the need for more complex marketing automation services.”

The first phase of the Hub solution launched on Jan. 16 and provides an email system that allows users to manage contacts, schedule and send emails to their entire contact list, email branded newsletters and fliers, and more. Other phases of RenMind Wire and NPI/GPI Hub will include new ways to promote and publish content, get customer feedback, streamline the sales process, and collect payments.

“Many of our franchise owners have come to a point where they are ready for more sophisticated marketing tools,” said Roland Bates, president of National Property Inspections, Inc. “We approached RenMind to help us design an automated solution that we could build out, and they started working on the NPI/GPI Hub. The Hub will allow franchise owners to use an integrated solution for multiple areas of their marketing. We have heavily invested in the development of the Hub, and we are excited to offer it to all franchisees at no cost. We are the only franchisor in our class that is doing something like this for our franchisees, and we really think it’s something special for them.”

Throughout 2016, RenMind will develop the next phases of the NPI Hub and GPI Hub. A new app for payment collection with contract management is slated to launch second quarter, and an integrated website management tool is projected to be ready in late 2016.

When Choosing a Franchisor, Consider These Things

By Roland Bates, President, NPI/GPI

Roland_101614National Property Inspections and Global Property Inspections have been training and supporting franchise owners for a long time — nearly 30 years — and we always have our ears open as to what our competitors in the property inspection franchising industry are doing. We also pay attention to what other franchisors are doing in other industries. We realize that if our competitors are doing something right, then we can learn from that. And, if they are doing something wrong, we can learn from that, as well.

I believe that our competitors make us better. It’s like running a 100-meter race: You don’t know how fast you are until you have an opponent. But when I say “race,” I don’t mean that it’s a literal race to see how many franchises you can sell or how fast you can sell them. In fact, I think that is one of the biggest mistakes a franchisor can make.

I cringe when I hear, “the fastest-growing” anything. I think most of our property inspection franchise competitors are good in one way or another, and we all make each other better. On occasion, however, I have been shocked and saddened to learn how little training and support some franchisors in other industries have provided to their franchisees. We franchisors live on royalties; thus, it behooves us to give our franchisees the best training and support we can. Not only is it the right thing to do, it’s just good business.

At NPI and GPI, we must provide the classroom and field training necessary for our franchisees to obtain their home inspector licenses. But it doesn’t matter if they are great inspectors if they don’t know how to make the phone ring. In addition to all of the technical training, we have our own unique way of teaching franchise owners the business of property inspection from beginning to end. Yes, our franchise owners need to know and understand the technical side of home inspection, but managing and marketing their businesses effectively is just as important.

In our minds, support from a franchisor shouldn’t end when a franchisee heads home — that’s when it begins. We take pride in the way we do things, and it works for us. So, I’d like to give a quick shout-out to all franchisors and business opportunity providers: Don’t forget that your franchisees have paid you a huge compliment by showing faith in you (and probably writing you a check), so please provide them with the best training and support you can. Then, everyone wins.

Choose a Franchisor That Offers Superb Ongoing Support

Inspector Team + AC8In your search for a franchisor with which you’d like to work, one of the key things you need to look for is support — specifically, how much support the franchisor offers on an ongoing basis, after the initial training period ends.

Some franchisors offer great support during the initial training period, but once that period ends, you’re on your own. Will you be confident enough at that time to manage your business as well as your marketing, website, etc., by yourself?

Some new franchise owners are, but most are happier with franchisors that offer ongoing support. For example, NPI/GPI has a dedicated marketing team to provide ongoing support to franchise owners, both new and established. Our technical team is available seven days a week to answer questions and help NPI/GPI inspectors with technical issues and problems that arise when they are out on inspections. And our office staff is available to assist with ordering materials and answering questions. These are services that many franchisors don’t offer once your business is up and running.

As you consider franchisors, be sure to ask what kind of continuing or ongoing support they will offer you after you’re trained. Are you going to be on your own, or will you have a team backing you up?
